Lowell Abilities Awareness March

They will be marching from UMass Lowell University Crossing (220 Pawtucket St, Lowell, MA – where we will gather at the main entrance of the building) down to Lowell City Hall (375 Merrimack St, Lowell, MA ).  The walk should not be longer then 20 min and there will be a reception (for those interested with refreshments) to follow in the Lowell City Hall Mayor’s Reception Room.

Faith communities play an integral role in the spiritual and physical health and wellbeing of their members.  This is why Lowell Community Health Center and Element Care value(s) our partnerships with all Greater Lowell’s faith communities, collaborating on addressing many health issues including flu vaccinations, mental health, teen pregnancy prevention and helping our ageing congregation to live with dignity, respect and quality of life.

Lowell Community Health Center and Element Care want to invite you to the Annual Faith Leader Breakfast to celebrate their shared  accomplishments and deepen our commitment to a healthier Community.

Steps To Home: Walk to End Homelessness

The Lowell Transitional Living Center’s has changed the date of the 6th Annual Walk to end homelessness from Sunday (previously announced) to SATURDAY JUNE 10th.

We’ll arm you with scripts and tools to arrange student and parent visits/calls to members of congress or your school board. Advocates 5K Charity Spin Ride

Have you always wanted to try spin, but never had the chance? Want to support Advocates’ See Me 5K while getting in a great workout? Join spin instructor and 5K Race Director Joleen Alicea for the 5K Charity Spin ride!

All proceeds will benefit Advocates’ See Me 5K to help end mental health stigma.

Advocates See Me 5K Run/Walk

Run, walk, or volunteer to end mental health stigma at Advocates 4th Annual See Me 5K on Saturday, May 6th. Help spread the message that a person experiencing mental health challenges is a person, not a diagnosis. See the person! See the individual!

Bring the whole family! Kid activities include a fun run, face painting, games, and more. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.

 

Community Forum: Discussion of a New High School

Given that many residents are unaware that there have been discussions of the potential for a new High School, CBA and CMAA have organized forums for residents to hear more and discuss and give feedback.
The discussion will take place on 3/22 at the Lowell Senior Center on Broadway and on 3/23 at CMAAs building on School St.

Dinner with Our Docs: Women and Heart Disease

More women die every year of heart disease than from all types of cancer combined. Sadly only 13% of them are aware that it is the number one killer of women. Join Dr. Miret Ibrahim, board-certified cardiologist, and learn the difference between fact and fiction when it comes to heart disease and women.

Attendees will hear about the different signs and symptoms of heart disease and heart attack experienced by women, as well as, risk reduction and prevention.

A heart healthy dinner will be provided.
