The Center for Hope and Healing Partners with local Coffee Shops to promote a message of Healthy Masculinity and Sexual Violence Prevention

The Center for Hope and Healing, under its Engaging Men and Boys as Allies in Sexual Violence Prevention initiative, is distributing coffee sleeves with the prompt: “Are you a Strong Man?” Clients will then be able to use their phone to link to a video produced by the agency’s 2015 Youth Leadership Corp cohort exploring questions around fatherhood, masculinity, and sexual violence.
Come out and meet members of our Men’s Advisory Board and CHH staff to enjoy a warm cup cup of coffee and find out how you can be involved and help create a healthy Lowell free of violence!

Great American Smoke Out
The Great American Smokeout, on Thursday, November 17, is a great time to remind clients, friends, and family about quitting smoking. Developed by the American Cancer Society, the Smokeout is a perfect opportunity to think about quitting and its many benefits–physically, mentally, and financially. Remember, help is always available for any smoker interested in quitting, whether it be on November 17 or at any other time.
You can help smokers by sharing this information with them:
- Considering medications to increase your chances of quitting? Mass Health and many other insurance companies cover quit smoking medicines with little or no co-pay.
- Interested in talking to a quit coach for free? Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW(1-800-784-8669). The Helpline is open 24 hours each day, seven days a week (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) and experienced coaches are ready to help.
- Want to try nicotine patches to further your chances of being successful and quitting smoking for good? Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW and receive 1 month of FREE nicotine patches (with medical eligibility).
Thanks for supporting smokers on November 17 and any time. Quitting can take many attempts, but with the help of 1-800-QUIT-NOW and the support of others during the Great American Smokeout, every smoker can become tobacco free and begin a journey as a non-smoker.
For more information about 1-800-QUIT-NOW, please click here and visit http://www.makesmokinghistory.org.
Contact the Northeast Tobacco-Free Community Partnership at dknight@glfhc.org to learn more about the impact tobacco has on your community.
