Lowell Medical Assistant Day Institute 2019
Registration for this event is closed. Please contact Kerrie D’Entremont at the GLHA, to be added to the wait list. Thank you!
Rational: Medical Assistants are multi-skilled healthcare practitioners that perform a wide range of clinical and administrative functions. Medical Assistants are employed by hospitals, clinics, medical offices and others. Their professional contributions are of essence in the delivery of care. In addition, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical assistants is projected to grow 29% during the next 10 years, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Event Plan: The 2019 Lowell Medical Assistant Day Institute aims to validate, support, empower and celebrate the contributions of Medical Assistants while opening new pathways to continuing their education within the workplace. This event is made possible from contributions of different groups and members of the community.
Partnerships & Sponsors: Special thank you to the following agencies for their dedication to this important initiative:
LGBTQ Flag Raising
Greater Lowell PRIDE 2019
Members of the Greater Lowell Health Alliance, LGTBQ+ Subcommittee would like to invite you to celebrate Greater Lowell PRIDE Month 2019!
Happy PRIDE 2019!
WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?
The 2016 Greater Lowell Community Health Needs Assessment revealed that community members who are isolated or without family support are at risk of developing mental health, substance abuse and other issues. There is a lack of sensitivity to this community, as well as a lack of awareness about transgender individuals. It’s easier to deliver more effective health services to individual when you see all of who they are–including how THEY identify their gender.
ABOUT THE GLHA LGBTQ SUBCOMMITTEE
The LGBTQ Subcommittee is a group of professionals and community members committed to addressing these issues, raising awareness and ensuring that ALL the members of the Greater Lowell community have access to culturally competent, inclusive and high quality services and supports. The Subcommittee also aims to build a network of resources and individuals in the community who can provide affinity and support to one another.
This is a collaborative effort between many community partners to plan and coordinate a month of events & celebrations. If you would like to be involved in the PRIDE Planning Committee, or would like more information about Greater Lowell PRIDE – please contact Amanda Clermont, GLHA Community Engagement Coordinator.
