Personal Safety & Self Defense for Teens
Open to both males and females

Join us for a one day workshop where you will learn about safety awareness, risk reduction, and how to react to an attack with basic self-defense skills. This workshop includes a safety lecture followed by an array of personal safety techniques and self-defense skills. Open to both males and females age 14-18.

** Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing and sneakers.

Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association’s Know Your Rights Workshop

Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association’s KNOW YOUR RIGHTS Workshop – event will be translated into Spanish and Khmer on 2nd floor of CMAA, 465 School Street, Lowell, MA 01851. Event will be translated in Khmer and Spanish.

The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project will conduct a “Know Your Rights” presentation. Lawyers will also be present to discuss other programs.

Come to learn more about your rights when interacting with immigration officials, understanding your legal status and the immigration court process, where to find trusted legal resources, and what programs might be available to you.

Know Your Rights Training

Lowell Alliance is sponsoring a workshop with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition to “train the trainers” and help community agencies understand:
What changes have already been made by the administration. What an individual’s rights are when they encounter law enforcement. What families should do now to prepare for the worst. Which local agencies are available to help. The workshop will be presented by Sarang Sekhavat, the Federal Policy Director at MIRA.

Donations assist with overall costs of the inspiring, educational programming that is a hallmark of our organization. “Overall costs “ include and are not limited to website fees, printing, publicity purchases, and catering/venue charges for the annual breakfast. Since the inception of Lowell Women’s Week, we have worked hard to involve students in our programming. As a result, we offer limited discount breakfast tickets for students. Donations defray these costs.

All costs are approved by the Lowell Women’s Week committee. Lowell Women’s Week is proud to be under the umbrella of Greater Lowell Community Foundation. Donations to Lowell Women’s week are tax deductibles.  Sponsors will be acknowledged on the Lowell Women’s Week website and in the program during the Lowell Women’s Week annual breakfast.

Take Back the Night 2017 Planning Committee Meeting

The TBTN 2017 planning committee will be convening to discuss the logistics of the event, the distribution of promotional materials to the community, and the tasks completed so far by committee members. Furthermore, collaborators from Lawrence may join the meeting to discuss the possibility of closing their event with an open-mic session, and what that would entail.

Khmer Women: Leading the Way

This celebration highlights the journey of Khmer women in Lowell. The keynote speaker and other Khmer women will share their personal journey to professional success and community activism. With great courage, generosity, compassion and determination, Khmer women continue to make a difference in their community.
