Suicide Prevention Training

Question, Persuade, Refer

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide and become a gatekeeper. According to the Surgeon General’s National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (2001), a gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. Gatekeepers can be anyone, but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.

As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:

  • Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer hope
  • Know how to get help and save a life

Cultural Competency Task Force Meeting

Date: Thursday, February 23, 2017
Time:
10:00-11:30am
Location: Circle Home, Inc., 847 Rogers Street, Suite 201, Lowell, MA  01852
978-459-9343 – Call Circle Home if you need help with directions

Circle Home is located in a red brick building at the end of a long driveway from Rogers Street (Route 38), very near the Lowell/Tewksbury line.  Route 38 can be reached from Route 495 – on exiting, head toward Lowell. (or coming from downtown Lowell you will pass Shedd Park)

The driveway to our building is located between McDonald’s and Lannan Chevrolet (at the traffic light).  This intersection is directly across the street from Santander Bank and the Market Basket plaza.

Once you have made the turn, continue straight past the entrance to McDonalds and Hannaford on the right, and take the first left.  Our entrance is just past the loading dock and behind the “big wall.”  We’re on the second floor.  Park in any unoccupied space with yellow lines (except those labelled for patients).
