Who We Are
The mission of the Older Adult Subcommittee of the Health Equity Task Force is to promote health, wellness, and engagement among older adults in Greater Lowell. Addressing the Need
The older adult population in Greater Lowell is increasing rapidly, mirroring both national patterns and local demographic shifts. While many residents are living longer, they are often doing so with complex health needs, chronic conditions, and heightened social and economic vulnerabilities. In Greater Lowell, older adults experience interconnected challenges such as housing instability, food insecurity, transportation barriers, and limited access to culturally responsive care. These factors, combined with a higher prevalence of age-related health disorders, place elders at greater risk for mental health concerns, including conditions disproportionately affecting older adults, such as hoarding.
