New Hampshire Mental Health Symposium

Join the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in hosting their 12th Annual New Hampshire Mental Health Symposium. This symposium will provide a 4 hour LEAP (Leadership, Empathizing, Agreeing, and Partnering) Training and Certification, presented by Dr. Xavier Amador, LEAP Founder.

This symposium is designed for health professionals,first responders, public health workers, educators, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning more about effective mental health.

Upon completion of this offering, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize that severe problems with insight into their illness affect nearly 50% of all patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
  2. Identify anosognosia (brain dysfunction) as the leading cause of a person’s poor insight into their illness.
  3. Recognize the top two factors affecting good adherence to treatment.
  4. Recognize that some clients never gain awareness of their symptoms through the use of medications.
  5. Demonstrate how a communication method such as LEAP improves insight and adherence to treatment.
  6. Adapt LEAP tools in scenarios that fit your work.
